Technical Requirements
- Internet access through a high-speed broadband connection (ISDN, DSL, cable, FIOS) is highly recommended. Most online courses perform with a 56kbps modem, but more slowly.
- Screen resolution of 800x600 pixels or higher.
- An active email account that accepts email from the .edu domain.
- Word processing software with the capability to save documents as 'rich text files' (rtf).
- A printer is recommended.
- Other software or requirements will vary by course and will be determined by the professor.

Onondaga’s online courses are taught in SLN ANGEL. SLN ANGEL courses can be accessed through Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. Some faculty require additional software, such as excel, PowerPoint, etc. Details are found in each course, along with other required materials such as textbooks, etc. - Notes for courses in ANGEL:
- Internet Explorer for the Mac will not work with ANGEL.
- To use ANGEL successfully, the Web browser that you use should display frames, run Java 1.4.1 (or later) and JavaScript, and have cookies enabled.
- Note to America Online (AOL) Users:
- Log on to AOL, then use Internet Explorer to access ANGEL.
- Macintosh AOL users should use one of the browsers recommended above.
Students should already have these basic computer skills:
- Word processing, including the ability to save files, especially as rich text files (rtf’s)
- Ability to use a mouse
- Receiving and sending emails
- Accessing and reading file attachments
- Attaching documents to submit assignments
- Downloading software
- Navigate and search the Internet
