
Onondaga Community College Foundation Scholarships
Onondaga Community College recognizes student achievement and individual merit with over 55 different scholarships. Anyone who has filed the FAFSA application is automatically considered for one or more of the financial scholarship awards through the OCC Foundation so complete and submit the FAFSA application as early as possible at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Essentially, scholarships are free money – a form of financial aid that does not require repayment.

Alliance Bank Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2008 by the Oswego County Chritable Foundation of Alliance Bank for incoming freshman students from any public or parochial high school in Onondaga or Oswego counties who enroll full-time in any degree or certificate program, have at least an 85 average and have a FAFSA on file. No application form is required.
Allyn Foundation Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by the Allyn Foundation in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
*Allyn Honors Scholarship
Established in 2007 by the Allyn Foundation for new or continuing OCC students who meet Honors Program minimum criteria for selection. Entering students must have a 90+ high school average, minimum 1100 on SAT or 23 composite on ACT. Continuing students must have a 3.5 GPA with no grades below a B and be enrolled full time. *Allyn Multicultural Scholarship
Established in 1997 by the Allyn Foundation, Inc. as a financial need scholarship to assist minority students from area high schools as they make the transition to Onondaga. Is available to any under represented minority high school graduate applying as a freshman for full time study in any field. To be considered, a student must have at least a "C" average in high school, have a FAFSA in place and have an ethnicity notation on the SUNY Application. No application form is required.
*Allyn Native Scholarship
Established in 2002 by the Allyn Foundation as a merit/financial aid-based scholarship to assist with the recruitment and retention of Native American students. Candidates must be registered as a matriculated, full or part-time, live in Onondaga County, have documented financial need and confirm Native American ethnicity, including the appropriate notation on their SUNY application. Recipients must provide a copy of their tribal red card. Applicants will be asked to submit a short bio (at least 100 words) that documents their community involvement, including activities at school, work and in the community-at-large. Candidates without a FAFSA on file at OCC may self identify by contacting Nancy Connery in the Financial Aid Office.
Alumni Council Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2002 by the OCC Alumni Council in conjunction with the OCC Scholarship Classic. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors coming directly to OCC who matriculate, enroll full-time, and have at least an 80 average. A FAFSA must be on file, and applicant must have documented financial need. No application form is required.

Established in 1989 by the OCC Alumni Association for OCC students in any curriculum who have completed at least six or more credit hours and have a minimum 2.0 G.P.A. at OCC. Student must have a FAFSA on file in the OCC Financial Aid Office. Award is applied to tuition and educational expenses and a book account may established with the OCC Bookstore to cover the cost of books and other educational items. No application form required.
Anaren Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by Anaren, Inc. in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
Jack Ault Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Established as an endowed scholarship in 2006 in memory of Jack Ault, long-time athletic director at Fayetteville Manlius High School who was killed in a tragic accident in 1990.
*C.W. Baker High School Concurrent Study Scholarship
Established in 2006 to assist students from C.W. Baker High School with tuition for classes they are taking concurrently at Onondaga. These scholarships are initiated through the office of the associate vice president for Continuing and Extended Learning. No application form is required.
*Best Fine Arts Portfolio Award (Scholastic Arts)
Established in 2001 as an award to be presented to the winner of the Best Portfilio Award at the Scholastic Art Awards held annually in the Spring . This scholarship is available to participating high school artists.
Bridgestone/Firestone Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2002 by Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. to encourage a qualified students to pursue a career in Automotive Technologies. Candidates must be full-time incoming high school student enrolled in Automotive Technology program and have a minimum "C" high school average. No application required
Café Trust Scholarship
Established in 2006 by Cooperative Association of Food Enterprises Workers' Compensation Trust (Café Trust) and First Cardinal, LLC of Albany, NY for students in the OCC Food Service Administration/Restaurant Management Program who are matriculated, full or part-time with at least a 2.8 grade point average with a FAFSA on file, although documented financial need is not a prerequisite. Recipient may be asked to attend a gathering of donor representatives and have their photo or likeness used in award notices and media releases. Awards are also available to supplement costs associated with trips to conferences program related. No application is required.
Stella & Nicholas Caroombas Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1999 in memory of Nick and Stella Caroombas by their grandson for second-year matriculated Human Services students with at least 30 credit hours and a 3.0 grade point average. Although this is a merit scholarship, eligible candidates must have an active FAFSA on file. Eligible candidates will be identified by Financial Aid Office, and the final recipient(s) will be chosen by a selection committee.
Carrier Corporation Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by Carrier Corporation in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
CDM/C&S Joint Venture Engineering & Architecture Tech Schola
Established in 2003 by Camp, Dresser & McKee and C&S Engineers to support underrepresented minorities (African, Native American and Hispanic) in the Engineering and Architectural Technology programs. Candidates must be full-time students in their first semester (with at least 15 credit hours) and must have a GPA of at least 2.0. Student must have a FAFSA on file, must have unmet financial need and display an exemplary dedication to and interest in the field of engineering/architecture/construction management. First award is made during the student’s first Spring semester. If student maintains passing grades each semester and demonstrates a positive work ethic, the award will be renewable for the Fall and Spring of the next academic year. Recipient must agree to attend a meeting of the sponsoring engineering/architectural professional group to formally receive the scholarship award. Financial Aid Office and department faculty will identify eligible candidates during the end of the first Fall semester, and the final recipient will be selected by program faculty representatives. No application form is required.
*CNY Factory Management Council Scholarship
Established in 1991 by the CNY Factory Management Council for incoming freshman who come directly from high school with a final high school average of "B" or better who are enrolled in the Mechanical Technology program. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file. No application form is required.

Established in 2008 by Community Bank in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.

Counseling Department Emergency Award
This award was established from contributions from Ms. Marjorie "Midge" Mitchell, professor Emeritus and former counselor at Onondaga to provide emergency loans to students in need of financial assistance. Funds are approved through counseling office. Acceptable requests will include those for tuition and/or any educational expenses, including books and transportation, etc.

Established in 1989 by Cooper Industries/Crouse-Hinds Company for incoming freshman coming to OCC directly from high school who are enrolled full-time and matriculated in the Mechanical Technology program. Student must have a final high school average of "B" or better and must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. No application form is required.
Stephen & Lois Cutilla Scholarship
Established in 1996 in memory of Stephen and Lois Cutilla for OCC Photography students. Lois was a former OCC employee who retired from the College in 1992 and Stephen is her deceased son for whom the scholarship was originally established. No application form is required.
Cygnus Management Foundation Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by Cygnus Management Foundation in conjuction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
*Data Key-Vera House Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2008 by Data Key Communications in conjunction with Vera House of Syracuse to help empower women living in a world impacted by domestic violence to live a safe, self-sufficient lives through higher education at Onondaga. Applicants must be female high school seniors, attending any public, private, or parochial high school in Onondaga County. In addition to applying for admission to Onondaga Community College, applicants must also submit an essay on what domestic violence and/or sexual abuse means to them or how it has affected their lives. David deLima Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Established 1987 by the Paul deLima Company of Cicero in memory of David deLima. To be eligible, student must apply for full time admission to OCC's Food Service/Hotel Technology Department as an incoming Freshman and be a high school graduate with a minimum "B" average. No application form is required.
Distinguished Alumni Scholarship
Established in 2005 by the OCC Alumni Association to honor the recipient of the annual OCC Distinguished Alumni Award. Candidate must be a first year student coming directly from high school with at least a 90 or "A" average, must have a FAFSA on file in the OCC Financial Aid Office and have documented need. No application is required.
*SUNY/OCC Diversity Honors Scholarship (formerly known as the Multicultural Honors Scholarship)
Established in 1988 as an annual matching gift by the SUNY Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarship Program to offer scholarships for students in all curriculums who make a contribution to the diversity of the student body. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 G.P.A. and a FAFSA on file. An essay is required, and finalists will be selected by a scholarship selection committee. *John F. Downes Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2008 in memory of John F. Downes of Syracuse, NY by his family for students who are registered as a full-time students in the Fire Protection Technology program, have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office and have documented financial need. Recipients will be identified by the Financial Aid Office and will be selected with input from representatives of the Fire Protection Technology program. No application is required.
Maria E. Dracker Endowed Scholarship for Excellence & Compassion
Established in 2002 by Dr. Robert A. Dracker, former member of the OCC Foundation Board of Directors, in honor of his wife, Maria. Eligible students must be full-time, matriculated nursing students with at least a 3.0 G.P.A.. Applicant must have completed at least one semester at OCC or 12 credit hours. This is a merit scholarship, but the applicant must have a FAFSA on file. The Financial Aid Office will identify eligible candidates and will work with program representatives to select the final recipient. No application form is required.
Electrical Technology Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1997 by United Radio Service of Syracuse for matriculated electrical engineering technology students who are excelling academically, have financial need and are coming to Onondaga directly from high school Preference will be given to candidates who plan to pursue a career in the electronic service industry in Central New York and have an affiliation with the Boys and Girls Scouts of America. Eligible students will be notified by the Financial Aid Office and will be asked to submit a short bio expressing their career goals.
Electrical Technology Endowed Student Assistance Scholarship (formerly known as the Electrical Technology Scholarship)
Established in 1989 for students in the electrical engineering, computer engineering or telecommunication technology programs pursuing a degree in the electrical technology field. This scholarship is intended to retain students in good academic standing with financial need. Student must have a FAFSA on file. A selection committee composed of Electrical Technology faculty will select the recipient of this scholarship. No application is required.
*Helen and John Etherington Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1994 by Drs. Helen and John Etherington for non-traditional female students over the age of 25 who have completed a minimum of 9 credit hours at OCC by the end of the Spring semester. A G.P.A. of 2.5 or better is required, and student must be matriculated in a certificate or degree program. Essay must describe student, her goals and the reason why student should be selected as a recipient. Financial Aid Office will identify eligible candidates who will be required to submit an essay. The final recipient will be selected by the Etherington Scholarship Committee
OCC Faculty Endowed Award for Academic Excellence
Established as an OCC Foundation scholarship by the OCC Faculty Association in 1990. This merit scholarship is funded by contributions from OCC faculty members and is available for full-time, matriculated OCC students. The award is offered during the Spring semester. Candidates can be registered in any curriculum but must have plans to register for classes during the following Fall semester. They must have at least 30 credit hours and a 3.5 grade point average at the time of application. A faculty committee will invite students to apply during the Spring semester and will select the final recipient(s). An application form including an essay is due by April 30. Forms can be picked up at the English department, the main desk of Coulter Library and at Student Central.

David Feldman Endowed Journalism Scholarship
Established in 2002 by OCC faculty members to recognize the accomplishments of OCC journalism professor David Feldman. Candidates must be enrolled with concentration in journalism, be in attendance during the fall semester and have a FAFSA in place. Award will be made in Spring to the candidate with the highest cumulative GPA at the end of the previous fall semester. Candidates will be recommended by members of the Journalism faculty.
John & Edna Fooks Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1997 in memory of Edna Fooks and her husband, John, a popular photographer known throughout Syracuse and the "Valley" for matriculated full-time photography students coming from high school with at least a 3.0 G.P.A. who have a FAFSA on file and documented financial need. Priority will be given to students who plan to pursue a career in photography. No application is required.
Arthur O. Eve Community Service Scholarship
This scholarship is for Educational Opportunity program students who show a dedication to community and education in the spirit of Arthur O. Eve. Student applicant must be matriculated, have completed at least 12 credit hours prior to the Spring semester, and have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or above.

Ghana Society Pan-African Scholarship
Established in 2004 by the Ghana Society of CNY to motivate students of African/African American heritage to excel in college and to enhance the diversity of students studying at Onondaga. Candidates must be enrolled as full-time, matriculated students, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, have a FAFSA on file and have documented financial need. Ethnicity must be noted on SUNY application to be considered. No application form is required.
Rosamond Gifford Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1998 by the Gifford Charitable Foundation to provide financial assistance for students from underrepresented backgrounds who are economically disdvantaged and in need of supplemental financial support . Funding is also available to assist the emergency needs of all students. Application form is available from Financial Aid Office. Recommendations for emergency funding may be submitted by faculty as needs are identified.

Established in 2006 in memory of Donald C. Helmer for students at OCC who are both financially needy and academically deserving.
Honors Contract Excellence Award
Established in 2008 by Susan Mitchell, Ph.D., retired OCC professor of biology, to recognize outstanding honors projects created by students in the Honors Program. All honor projects are eligible for consideration and must be nominated by a faculty mentor or self-submitted by an Honors student. Copies of the completed projects and supporting documentation must be submitted to Tracey Clancy in the Mathematics Department, Room M205 by 4:00 PM on Monday, May 3, 2010. All projects will be reviewed by a selection committee, and the program coordinator will notify recipients. The awards will be presented at January and May faculty meetings. NYS/Onondaga County Home Bureau Scholarship
Established by the NYS/Onondaga County Home Bureau in 1989 as an achievement and financial-based award for tuition and/or educationally related expenses for full-time students from qualifying counties in the Human Services curriculum with at least a 2.8 G.P.A., 30 credit hours and carrying 9 credit hours during the fall semester of the year student applies. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and provide at least one letter of recommendation from an OCC faculty/staff member. Eligible candidates will be notified by the Financial Aid office.
Horowitch Native American Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1993 by Dr. Sheldon Horowitch, a former member of the OCC Foundation, for full-time Native students with Haudenosaunee membership, a 2.5 G.P.A. and FAFSA on file. No application is required.

Established in 2008 by JGB Enterprises in conjunction with the Presidental Scholars Program.

Juanita Jones Crumrine Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2002 by former OCC Interim President Barrett L. Jones in memory of his mother for full or part-time matriculated female second-year students with documented financial need, who work outside the home and are responsible for at least one dependent. Candidates must have a FAFSA on file, must work outside the home and must self identify with the Financial Aid Office.
Dorothy L. Kelly Endowed Human Services Award
Established in 1992 by Dorothy Kelly, former Human Services professor and department chair, for full-time matriculated female Human Services students with at least a 2.5 G.P.A. and 15 or more credit hours at OCC. The Human Services program Chair will assist in the selection of the recipient. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file. No application form is required.
Rick Kent Automotive Technology Endowed Scholarship (Automotive Technology)
Established in 2006 in memory of Rick Kent, long-time employee and former Chair of the Automotive Technology Program at Onondaga, by his wife for students in the Automotive Technology program. Candidates must be incoming freshman with an academic average of at least 80 with a FAFSA on file. Priority can be given to the candidate with the highest academic grade. No application is required.
*OCC KidsWIN! Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 as a cooperative effort of the College and Catholic Charities of Onondaga County to support the KidsWIN! Initiative aimed to assist inner-city children and youth in Onondaga County living below the poverty level. Candidates must be graduating seniors from Syracuse City School high schools with a FAFSA form in place documenting financial need. Recipients will be selected by representatives at Catholic Charities/KidsWIN!
KJ Electric Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by KJ Electric in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
*Library Research Award
Established in 1999 through the efforts of OCC President Joe Bulmer and the Coulter Library staff. The Library Research Awards Committee invites the submission of papers written during each academic year. First, second and third place recipients will receive cash awards [$250, $150 and $100] and be recognized for their academic achievement during the final faculty meeting of the Spring semester. OCC faculty submit student research papers, after obtaining the student's permission to do so. Submission must come from a faculty member. If a student would like to submit a paper, s/he should contact the faculty member who assigned the paper. Submissions should include: the paper, a cover sheet containing the student's name, faculty member's name, the course and section number and a copy of the writing assignment. Papers ("clean" copies only, please) and cover sheets should be submitted to Jeff Harr, Chair of the Library, on or before the last day of classes in May.
*Martin A. Linehan Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1997 in memory of Marty Linehan, deceased OCC Criminal Justice faculty member, for second year Criminal Justice students who demonstrate academic excellence as inspired by Marty's inspirational teaching. Victor and Halyna Lisnyczyj Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2002 in honor of retired OCC Photography program Chair Victor Lisnyczyj and his wife, Halyna, a Distinguished OCC alumna. Candidates must be second-year Photography students with at least 30 credits, have a minimum 2.5 G.P.A. with a FAFSA on file reflecting documented financial need . No application form is required.
Sophia Lotito Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of the late Sofia Lotito by her husband and fellow Bristol-Myers Squibb employees for full-time humanities students who have successfully completed 15 credit hours at OCC and have a FAFSA on file. No application is required.
*M&T Bank/Dennis Dowdell Sr. Scholarship
Established in 2002 in memory of Dennis Dowdell Sr., community activist and founder of the Syracuse Urban League, for African American students applying to OCC for full time study in any curriculum. To be eligible for this award, student must report ethnicity on their SUNY Application and have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. No application form is required.
M&T Bank Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by COR Development in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
MACNY Plant Engineers Council Scholarship
Established by the MACNY (Manufacturers Association of CNY) Plant Engineers Council in 1999 for students pursuing a career in engineering. Student must be a full-time, first semester/second year student with financial need in an Engineering Science or Math/Sciences program with a cumulative 2.5 G.P.A.. Financial Aid office will select recipient with faculty input. Recipient will be asked to provide short biography that must include engineering career goals and should mention community/nation involvement, including activities at school, work and in the community-at-large.
*Robert F. Malek Memorial Excellence Scholarship
Established in 1988 in memory of former OCC Biology Professor Robert F. Malek, founder of the OCC Medical Technology program, for mathematics and science students with a 2.5 minimum G.P.A. and at least 15 credit hours. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file. No application form is required.
Dr. Anthony A. Malfitano Endow. Health Prof. Scholarship
Established in 2006 in memory of Dr. Anthony A. Malfitano, a well-respected member of the OCC Dental Hygiene faculty and curriculum committee, and former chairman of the OCC Board of Trustees for second-year health professions students (Nursing, Physical Therapy Assistant, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Health Info Technology). Candidates must have a FAFSA on file, have at least 30 credit hours, reside in Onondaga County and have at least a 2.5 G.P.A. Candidates will be contacted by the Financial Aid Office and will need to provide a short biography that includes personal accomplishments and educational/ career goals.
William E. Markovitz Accounting/Business Administration Schl
Established in 2008 by alumnus Arthur H. Rees in honor of William E. Markovitz a former professor in the Business Administration Department at Onondaga, for full-time students coming directly from high school into the Accounting or Business Administration programs with at least a 2.5 G.P.A. or 80 average with a FAFSA on file documenting financial need. No application form is required.
Marsellus Family Scholarship
Established by John and Candace Marsellus in 2008 in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
*Women's Auxiliary of Master Plumbers of CNY Scholarship
Established in 1979 to commemorate the work of outstanding leaders of the Master Plumbers of CNY. This award is available to CNY students who are full-time students in any program with at least a 2.0 G.P.A. or "B+" average, are related to a plumber, and show interest in the Auxiliary's desire to maintain pure water sources and provide suitable solid and liquid disposal plants. Candidates must self-identify themselves by contacting the Financial Aid Office and requesting an application form. Essay is required.
Donald M. Mawhinney, Jr. Endowed Honors Scholarship
Established in 1991 in honor of Donald Mawhinney, founding trustee of Onondaga and founding director of the OCC Foundation, for high school graduates from Onondaga County entering OCC right from high school with a "B" average. Candidate must have a FAFSA on file, although eligibility for financial aid is not a requirement for this merit scholarship. The Financial Aid Office will identify and contact eligible students who will be required to provide an unofficial high school transcript and an essay of 250 words that describes why they deserve this award.
James McGroarty Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2001 by the New York Firefighter's Foundation for OCC students who are a dependent or immediate family member of a New York State firefighter who was killed in the line of duty. Candidates must self identify and submit an application form.
*Ann McKinnon Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1997 in memory of Ann McKinnon, a 1977 OCC graduate, by the members of her family for a female Fowler High School graduate planning to attend OCC. Student must be registered full-time for the fall semester and be of Native American, African American or Latino ethnicity in good academic standing and modeling responsible civic attributes. Interested Fowler students should contact Counselor Howard Klingerman at Fowler at 435-4372.
Barbara Micale Endowed Piano Scholarship
Established in 1975 in memory of Barbara Micale, former OCC music professor, for piano majors. Music Department faculty select winners after a competitive audition. Winner is featured at a recital and traditionally plays at the College Honors Convocation in April. Contact your music major professor to apply. Spring award.
*Donald & Mary Miller Endowed Guitar Scholarship
Established in 2003 by retired music professor Donald Miller and his wife Mary for full or part-time students in the Music program. Student must be a talented guitarist accepted as a full or part-time, matriculated in the Music program. Student financial need can be taken into consideration during the selection process. Having a FAFSA on file is recommended, but not required. Preference will be given to a first year student, however, all guitar students will be considered with the exception of second semester, sophomore students. Student may be required to perform a separate guitar audition. Music program faculty will recruit candidates, and the Guitar Chair will select the recipient during the Fall semester.
Kevin & Selma Moore Endowed Music Scholarship
Established in 2001 by Kevin and Selma Moore and available to incoming freshmen enrolled full-time in the OCC Music program who can demonstrate financial need. Award is based on audition before Music Department faculty. For more information, contact Selma or Kevin Moore in the Music Department.
Sarah T. Morrison Memorial Award
Established in 2004 in memory of Sarah Morrison, an OCC student studying photography and architecture at OCC at the time of her death. The recipient of this award is selected by members of the Architectural Technology Aculty. No applications are required.
John H. Mulroy Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1987 in honor of John H. Mulroy, former Onondaga County Executive and former member of the OCC Foundation Board of Directors, who passed away in 1999. Student must apply for admission as an incoming freshman coming directly from high school with at least a "B" average and be registered as full-time and matriculated in the Humanities program. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file. No application form is required.
Music Performance Honors Award
Established with funding from the Edith Stoddard Endowment for outstanding full-time music majors. Music program faculty members select winners after a competitive audition in Spring. Winner will play at Honors Convocation in April of each year. Contact your music major professor to apply. Spring award.
OCC Faculty Award for Academic Excellence
Established as an OCC Foundation scholarship by the OCC Faculty Association in 1990. This merit scholarship is funded by contributions from OCC faculty members and is available for full-time, matriculated OCC students. The award is offered during the Spring semester. Candidates can be registered in any curriculum but must have plans to register for classes during the following Fall semester. They must have at least 30 credit hours and a 3.5 grade point average at the time of application. A faculty committee will invite students to apply during the Spring semester and will select the final recipient(s). An official application form including an essay are due by April 30 and should be hand delivered to any English department secretary.
*OCC Foundation Scholastic Arts Scholarship
Established by the OCC Foundation and awarded in conjunction with the Scholastic Art Competition held on the OCC Campus. The art teacher selected to receive the Teacher Inspiration Award selects a student(s) who receives art supplies and/or art courses at Onondaga. Participating high school artists are eligible to win this scholarship. No application form is required.

William S. Oliver Architectural Technology Scholarship
Established in 2007 in memory of William S. Oliver, professor emeritus of the OCC Architectural Technolgy Program who was instrumental in creating the program. This scholarship is for full-time students in the Architecture program with at least a 2.5 G.P.A. (80 average for incoming high school students), have a FAFSA on file and have documented financial need. The scholarship is renewable for one year, and priority will be given to candidates with the highest grade point average.
Onondaga County Fire Service Memorial Scholarship
Onondaga County Health Professions Scholarship (Health Professions) Established by Onondaga County to recruit students into the health professions curriculums at OCC . Candidates must have a FAFSA on file, have documented financial need, a 2.5 G.P.A., or if coming from high school, a B+ average.No application form is required.
Onondaga Nation Endowed Native Scholarship
Established in 2004 by the Onondaga Nation in conjunction with the Haudenosaunee Friendship Festival held on the OCC campus during the summer of 2004. To be eligible students must be members of the Onondaga Nation and reside on the nation. Financial Aid Office will notify eligible candidates. Those without a FAFSA on file may self identify with the Financial Aid Office. Applications are due by August 1.
Onondaga County Health Professions Scholarship
Established and funded by Onondaga County to recruit students residing in Onondaga County into the health professions curriculums at OCC . Current OCC students must have a 2.0 G.P.A. and applicants coming from high school must have a "B+" average. Applicants must be pursuing a career in the health professions in Onondaga County after graduation. Essay must reflect this desire and the need for financial support.
Pella Architectural Scholarship
Established in 2003 by Pella of CNY and the Pella Company for students enrolled in the Architectural Technology Program who have completed 30 credit hours and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Student must demonstrate competency in building design, have a goal to eventually work in the building design and construction industry, and be willing to share their knowledge and experience with others. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship for Syr. City School District
Established by the OCC Foundation to assist Phi Theta Kappa students with membership fees. Those seeking financial assistance will be asked to send a letter of request to the Executive Director of the OCC Foundation
Harold A. Phillips Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2005 in memory of Harold A. "Hal" Phillips, a former CNY banker and OCC faculty member who taught courses in banking through the Business Administration program. Candidates must be full or part-time students in the Business Administration program and have at least a 2.5 G.P.A. or an 85 average for incoming high school students. No application is required.
*Richard M. Plummer Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1991 in memory of Criminal Justice student Richard Plummer, former member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for full-time, second-year students with exceptional interest in extra-curricular activities at OCC or in the community. Rodrigo-Reid Art Scholarship
Originally established in 1996 in memory of OCC art student Angie Sue Weisman, this scholarship is supported by Timothy and Deborah Rodrigo for full time students taking at least one art course per semester with a grade of B or better. Award is for tuition and/or books and supplies. The Financial Aid Office will notify eligible candidates. Application, essay and portfolio with three pieces of art (slides and/or original works) must be delivered to the department secretary in the OCC Graphics Arts Department by October 31. The Rodrigo selection committee will select the final recipient.
Syracuse Federation Formers Minna Schupp Book Scholarship
Established in 1985 by the Syracuse Federation Formers to aid in the purchase of textbooks for OCC students with financial need. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office. No application form is required.
Marjorie Sexton Memorial Native American Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2002 by the Religious Society of Friends in memory of Marjorie Sexton, a lifelong member of the Adirondack Meeting. It is the desire of the Society to assist full-time, first year freshmen students of Native American descent. Student must have a "C+" high school average, have financial need, be in good academic standing and be a New York * resident. To be eligible for this award, student must report ethnicity on SUNY Application when applying for admission to OCC. No application is required.
Dr. Thomas D. Sheldon Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2006 in memory of Dr. Thomas D. Sheldon, former interim president during 1983-84 for full-time students in any program who have at least a 2.0 G.P.A. or a 75 average for incoming high school students and have a FAFSA on file. Priority may be given to to the candiate with the highest GPA.
Donna Speziale-Richards Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2001 in memory of Donna Speziale-Richards, an OCC Radio-Television graduate and well-respected personality in the local media and community. The award is for incoming freshman, coming directly from high school with at least a "B" average, who are enrolled full-time and are matriculated in the Electronic Media Communications program. Student must have a FAFSA on file and documented financial need. No application is required.
Francis Rogers Sposato Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1996 in memory of Frances Sposato, a former OCC photography program employee, for full-time, second-year matriculated photography students with a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. and a FAFSA on file. No application form is required.
State Farm Agents Emergency Services Award
Established in 1991 by local State Farm Insurance agents to help satisfy the critical need for volunteer firefighters. Candidate must be a volunteer firefighter or emergency services worker and must have plans to serve in a volunteer fire department or ambulance corps for 3 years after graduating from Onondaga. The Financial Aid Office will identify eligible candidates from Fire Protection, Emergency Management and Emergency Medical Technician programs and will request information to document applicant’s years of service, offices held, educational plans and desire to continue to serve as a volunteer firefighter or member of ambulance corp. Eligible candidates with no FAFSA on file may self identify themselves by contacting the Financial Aid Office.
Bettie Mann Stevens Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2008 in memory of Bettie Mann Stevens, a proponent of higher education, by her son who is an Onondaga graduate for full-time students in any program who come directly from high school with at least an 85 average, have a FAFSA in place and documented financial need. This scholarship can be renewed. Scholarship can be applied to a total of four semesters for recipients in good academic standing. No application is required.
L. & L.G. Stickley Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by L. & L.G. Stickley in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
Edith Stoddard Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1993 as the very first endowment to be administered at Onondaga through the OCC Foundation initiated by local school teacher and friend of the College Mrs. Edith S. Stoddard for students requiring financial assistance. No application is required.
James A. Stoddard, Sr. Presidential Scholars Endowment
Established in 2008 by James Stoddard, Sr., former member of the OCC Foundation Board of Directors in conjunction with the Presidential Scholars Program.
Percy J. Sutton Award for Academic Excellence
This scholarship was established to assist Educational Opportunity program students and is available to EOP students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. The student must be currently enrolled, matriculated, and have at least 12 credit hours prior to the Spring semester.
*Syracuse Assc. for the Education of Young Children Endowed
Established in 2002 by the Syracuse Association for the Education of Young Children, this scholarship is available to incoming freshmen, either full or part time, studying Human Services/Early Childhood Education. No application is required.

Wesley P. Valentine Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in 2008 in memory of Wesley P. Valentine who was an Electronic Media Communications student at Onondaga at the time of his tragic death. For full-time students coming directly from high school into the EMC program who have a FAFSA in place and have unmet financial need. No application is required.
Verizon Jazz Fest OCC Music Scholarship
Established in 2003 by Verizon to recognize distinguished jazz musicians from local high schools who participate in Jazz Fest music clinics held annually. Candidates are nominated by their band directors to participate and after auditions are rated by adjudictors who determine scholarship recipients. Winners are announced during the last evening of Jazz Fest from the main stage.
*Steve Walters Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1984 in memory of Steve Walters, former OCC Outdoor Recreation student, for full-time students with financial need who are majoring in the Recreation Leadership program and plan to transfer to a four-year college. Essay must reflect your desire to continue your education in the Outdoor Recreation field after you leave Onondaga. The Financial Aid Office will identify the candidates for this scholarship and the final recipient will be selected by faculty members of the program. No application is required
Charles T. White Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1999 in memory of former OCC employee Charles T. White by his family for OCC students coming directly from high school in all programs who are full-time, have a FAFSA on file and have documented financial need. No application is required.
*Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. Scholarship
Established in 1981 as part of the annual OCC Trustee Recognition Awards to honor outstanding members of the OCC Community. Officers of the OCC Board of Trustees, in consultation with the College president, will function as the selection committee. Three faculty, three staff, two administrators, and one team are recognized annually. Board officers, in consultation with the College president, will select one faculty recipient to receive the Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. Award. That faculty member, in turn, selects a student recipient(s) who receives the Whitney Scholarship. The Office of the President distributes nomination materials in the Spring of each year.
