Men's and Women's Lacrosse are National Champions

The Onondaga men's lacrosse team completed an undefeated season by defeating Nassau Community College, 9-8, to capture the 2009 NJCAA National Championship. It was the program's 3rd national title in the past 4 years. Onondaga also won its 5th consecutive NJCAA Region III Championship and its 9th consecutive Mid-State Athletic Conference title in 2009. Onondaga attackman Jerome Thompson, midfielders Jeremy Thompson and Ed Prevost, defenseman Pete Mumford, and goalie Jon Fiorillo were all named to the NJCAA All-American 1st Team, while attackman Dom Scalzo and defenseman Bob Schnibbe were named 2nd Team All-Americans. All 7 of the All-American selections, along with midfielder Corey Rich, were also named to the Region III All-Region 1st Team, with Jerome Thompson and Mumford being named Region III Attackman of the Year and Defensman of the Year respectively. Midfielder Elijah Printup was named to the All-Region 2nd Team, and Onondaga head coach Chuck Wilbur was named the Region III Coach of the Year. Jerome Thompson and Fiorillo were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively by the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association, while Wilbur was named the Association's Coach of the Year.
The Onondaga women's lacrosse team defeated Monroe Community College, 9-7, to capture the 2009 NJCAA National Championship in the program's first season of existance. In beating Monroe the Lazers also avenged their only loss of the season, in the Region III finals a week earlier. Lauren Welch was named 1st Team NJCAA All-American at attack and was also named the Region III Player of the Year. Midfielders Amanda Cizenski and Emily Pierson were also named 1st Team All-Americans. Welch, Cizenski, and Pierson were also 1st Team All-Region selections, and were joined by midfielder Elizabeth Manipole. Defenders Jamie Handley and Gabrielle Dewey and forward Lyndsay Malecki were named to the All-Region 2nd Team.
