New College Home Page

As the College concludes its 50th Anniversary celebration and enters into its 51st year we are excited to start the academic year with a new look for the College’s home page. The design is the culmination of a yearlong, research-intensive effort that was undertaken with the goal of improving both the visual impact of the page as well as its functions in support of the College’s strategic goals. The project work was completed through a successful cross-division partnership between Information Technology and Marketing and New Media. The new site is schedule to launch next week.

The visual design includes more campus imagery as well as larger image formats in an effort to provide visitors with a more impactful first impression of Onondaga, its students, employees and the campus. The overall look though remains clean with ample white space to help make it visually easy to scan and navigate.

Some of the improved functions of the site include:

  • Expanding top menu that provides more space for important links
  • Increased flexibility to handle future changes
  • More space for promoting important information
  • Better visual information hierarchy to help navigation

Much of the sites content, design and organization came as the result of the research that was conducted. A large portion of this research included examining analytical data gathered from the previous home page to determine the most frequently accessed pages as well as the pages that most often could not be found from the homepage. It also included a look at best practices and current trends in home page design from both higher ed institutions as well as those outside higher ed.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the new design. You can submit them, as well as any questions, by completing the feedback form
