Computer Forensics
Students will be introduced to basic crime investigative techniques, evidence procedures, legal concerns, electronic evidence handling and forensic analysis of electronic storage media.
Topics include – Theory of investigation, Technical interviews, Software licensing, Chain of custody, Forensic Imaging, Overview of Analysis software, Keyword Searching, Recovering deleted files, Registry analysis, constitutional protections, Encryption, Steganography, Computer forensics as part of an incident plan, and real world cases. Students will have hands on experience imaging electronic media and using forensic analysis software. Prerequisites: none specifically, computer work experience / CompTIA A+ course helpful.
