Northeast Wisconsin Technical College - Student Touchpoints

Every college offers an orientation for incoming students, but Northeast Wisconsin Technical College has expanded theirs to a full week of programming, called Student Touchpoints. This three-part, four-day program consists of New Student Orientation, Program Orientation, and Welcome Week. All new, degree-seeking students must attend in order for students to attend classes and avoid account holds; it is optional for all other incoming students. Students are introduced to all aspects of campus life, register for their courses, become informed about financial aid, learn the specifics of their program, and meet faculty and staff. In fact, the academic calendar was altered so that all faculty and staff are focused on these new students in the week before classes begin. While labor-intensive, this program has resulted in both increased course pass rates and persistence rates for students who attend.
