ENS 212 Mechanics of Materials (3 credits)

First course in the development of the mechanics of deformable bodies, primarily for engineering students. Topics include: theories of stress and strain, deformations, Hooke's Law, axial loads, shearing loads, bending loads, design of beams, Mohr's Circle, shear and bending moment diagrams, elastic stability and deflection of beams. Prerequisite: ENS 207; co-requisite: MAT 264.
