There are two program offerings depending on knowledge and skills. Earn the industry credentials. Gain practical experience while taking class with a part time internship.
Includes 3 modules of Understanding: Internet Associate Certification; Site Development Associate and Network Technology Associate: this is the most popular, vendor neutral educational track. Completing this section will give you more than a digital literacy you will gain a more comprehensive understanding of the internet business, data networking and web design aspects which are important for application and functionality of the technologies that affect every business. Internet Business Associate provides an understanding of tasks involved, next you are introduced to the languages HTML/ XHTML, GUI interface tools, Search engines, cascading style sheets, wed design concepts and an introduction to ecommerce solutions, Finally you must learn the fundamentals of networking, internet protocols and network security- TCP/IP, network components and protocols, architecture, topologies, OSI reference model / packet creation, IP routing , addressing and subnet masks and essential network security concepts. Prerequisite: Little or no experience should be able to navigate doing basic computer tasks. A CIW Industry exam will be available to take in class at the end of the program. Books and one exam voucher provided - Exam number 1D0-510. This is a non-credit course.
Includes 2 modules: Web Design Specialist and E-Commerce Specialist. In this section, you will build upon your basic web authoring skills to learn the essentials and best practices of Web Design, including design theory, tools and technologies. Completing these courses will start with Web site development essentials, the development process, customer expectations, ethical and legal issues – web design elements, aesthetics, users experience navigation, etc.. Gain insight to Web technologies, including HTML/XHTML/image files, GUI site development, Advanced Web tech. Microsoft expression, Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash. To stand out you will need a working knowledge of e-commerce standards. This is for individuals who understand the foundations and want to become proficient in e-commerce practices and site design. You learn site development, ways to conduct business online, manage technical issues, ecommerce technology and security, at various levels, customer relationship management software, securing on line transactions, and personal information and business, marketing, and legal issues. Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Must have passed the CIW Foundations Associate certification or have equivalent experience, some computer/web knowledge skills. A CIW Industry exam will be available to take at end of each module. One exam voucher provided per section: Books and Two Exam vouchers provided, exam numbers 1D0-520 and 1D0-525.
