Just for You
If you're a journeyman or apprentice in an approved building trades program, this A.A.S. degree program can lead to advanced opportunities and give you the option to transfer into a four-year degree program. Better yet, your apprentice or journeyman status could be worth up to 30 credits toward your degree. To apply for the program, applicants must provide proof of their training.
You'll choose from occupation-related electives such as electrical, mechanical or architectural technology, plus business and computer science to complement your studies. Required liberal arts courses complete your degree.
Students find the synergy between their apprenticeships and coursework a great way to "earn while you learn". Whenever possible, we offer Saturday and evening classes to accommodate work schedules.
Adding a college degree to your apprenticeship can open the door to advanced job opportunities in Construction Management, Quality Control, and Home Inspection, among others, and make you eligible for four-year programs like those offered at the SUNY College of Technology at Utica/Rome, Department of Vocational Education. A degree will also provide you with the credibility and foundation you need for starting your own skilled trade business.
"This program gave me more confidence about what I bring to the job, and how to work efficiently with the other trades. I've also taken some business courses while I've been here, which helped me realize that I do have what it takes to either start my own business, or manage someone else's." ~ Brad P., Building Trades Apprentice Program.
