Many majors at OCC require at least one Math or Science course. But you are the kind of student who craves much more. You are driven by a natural curiosity. You like to solve problems and make discoveries. And you will not rest until you find the answer.

What You Will Learn:

You will gain an increased awareness of the natural world. You will learn about the latest computational techniques and computer technology. And you will learn how math and science principles apply to the world around you by seeing past numbers and formulas.

What It Is Like:

You will have plenty of opportunities for independent and group study. Faculty and tutors are supportive and accessible. Since classes are small, you will get the individualized attention you need when you need it. You can also elect to take online classes with the option of earning your degree completely online. You are encouraged to broaden your study through field work and special interest groups, such as Geology Club or Math League.

Where It Can Take You:

The Math and Science A.S. degree is excellent foundations for a variety of careers. Many of our students transfer to a four-year school upon graduation. They can then choose from such careers as biologist, chemist, pharmacist, teacher, engineer and actuary to name a few.

It is important that students who plan to transfer after completing their studies at Onondaga consult from the beginning of their academic program with an OCC advisor and a contact at the transfer college to make sure both OCC's degree requirements and transfer requirements are being meet. You can view current information on  transfer agreements on our Transfer Services page.

"Einstein said that all of science is nothing more than the refinement of everyday thinking. As an Onondaga Community College Math and Science major my thinking was refined in ways I never thought possible. I was transformed from a high school dropout into a college graduate with a deep regard of all things Math and Science. This admiration convinced me to further my education and now I am a geology major at a four year university. The Math and Science program at OCC has left me better prepared than the majority of other transfer students at my current college, putting me ahead of the game right from the start." ~Jason Newton (May 2007 graduate)
