How do I get on a Waitlist?
When you try to register for a closed section, you may have the option to add yourself to the waitlist (look for the “add to waitlist” action when registering).

Can I waitlist for multiple sections for the same course?
No

Does being on a waitlist for a closed section guarantee me a seat in that section?
No. The only way to guarantee a seat is to register for an open section.

What if I change my mind and remove myself from the list?
Go to “Manage My Waitlist” on WebAccess and select “remove” from the waitlist

How do waitlists work?
As seats in a section open, either from students dropping or the capacity being increased, the first student on the waitlist is offered the seat. When a seat opens, a notification email is sent to the students OCC email account notifying them that they may register.

To register, the student must login to their WebAccess Account and choose Manage My Waitlist from the menu.

The student must register before their offer expires and before waitlist processing ends - whichever comes first.

Failure to register by the expiration date/time will drop the student from the waitlist and offer the seat to the next student.

NOTE: Non-degree seeking students will not have an OCC email account created until they are registered for courses. Therefore, be certain to use the “Manage My Waitlist” function as indicated below.

Are holds, prerequisites, and other registration restrictions, checked before joining a waitlist?
All registration holds and restrictions are checked prior to allowing a student to join a waitlist, and again upon registering once permission has been granted to register.

Are waitlists available for all sections?
No, they are only available for designated course sections.

Can I register for a waitlist with a time conflict?
You can add your name to the waitlist with a time conflict. However, if you are granted permission to register, and you have another course at the same/day time, you will not be able to register for that course.

If I haven’t met the prerequisites, can I register for a class or for a waitlist?
No, you cannot waitlist a class if you have not met the prerequisites or are not in progress towards successfully completing the prerequisites for that course.

What are my chances of getting into a class if I am on a waitlist?
It depends. Many times classes have students who register and then drop the class before the term begins. If you are near the top of the waitlist and there are still a few days before the class begins, it is likely that you may get a seat in the class. However, if you are near the bottom of the waitlist, your chances are much less likely. If there are still multiple weeks (or months) before the term begins, the basic recommendation is to check your waitlist status frequently to see if your status has changed. You can do that by checking your Onondaga email on a daily basis or by viewing Manage My Waitlist in WebAccess.

What if I do not get into the class for which I am waitlisted? If you do not get into a class for which you are waitlisted, you have the following options.
1. Take the class another term.
2. Drop yourself from the waitlist and find another class to take that has space available.

Can I register for a waitlist if I would exceed the maximum credit hours when allowed into that class? No. While the system might allow you to be on a waitlist initially, you will never be moved into the course from the waitlist if that class would push you over the maximum hours available to a student - which is 19 credits. If you want that class and are on the waitlist, you may benefit from dropping another class so that you might be put into the waitlisted class if space becomes available.

Should I attend the classes I am waitlisted for?
No, you may not attend classes that you are waitlisted for. You may only attend classes that you are officially registered for.

I no longer want the class I am waitlisted for. Does it matter if I stay on the waitlist?
If you are no longer interested in the class you waitlisted for, for whatever reason, you should drop yourself from the waitlist. This will free your inbox from unwanted emails and is a courtesy to other students on the list.

What happens if I missed my email and failed to register by my designated deadline?
You will need to add yourself back to the waitlist, however you will be added to the bottom of the list. When you add yourself to a waitlist, it is your responsibility to check your OCC email on a daily basis.

Why does a student have to waitlist a class that appears to have an open seat?
The waitlist process is scheduled to every night. If a seat opens in a class, the class will remain closed until after the waitlist process has completed. If there are no students on the waitlist, the class will reopen after the process has completed. If there are students on the waitlist, the next eligible student on the list will be enrolled in the class and the class will remain closed.

How can I see if I have any waitlisted courses?
Login to your WebAccess account and go to Manage My Waitlist.
