The mission of the Athletics Department is to support the broader mission of the college by providing intercollegiate and recreational sports programs that supplement the student-athlete's educational experience. Our department is dedicated to the principle that a student's pursuit of excellence in college athletics must be conducted within a framework of academic achievement.
We are committed to the development of our student-athletes, coaches and staff as individuals who embrace the benefits of teamwork, self-discipline, personal responsibility, and physical achievement. We stay strict to the guidelines we've agreed to abide by, and are honest in our dealings with student-athletes, coaches, staff, opponents and governing bodies.
We aspire to succeed at the highest level of competitive athletics, consistent with our resources, and to provide equitable access to all students who wish to test the levels of their athletic abilities.
Onondaga Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). All prospective student-athletes must satisfy NJCAA Eligibility Requirements. Onondaga teams compete at the Division III level within Region III of the NJCAA. Onondaga is also a member of the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Onondaga teams and athletes annually contend for national, regional, and conference championships and honors.
At Onondaga, we are totally committed to the all-around development of our student-athletes. Our student support services team and our faculty work with coaches and staff to provide our student-athletes with opportunities that enrich body and mind.
