SYRACUSE, NY. – May 20, 2008 – The Onondaga Community College men’s basketball program has released the names of several incoming prospective players who have registered and enrolled for the fall semester.
Brad Romancik, a 6’2” shooting guard from LaFayette Central High School, is a two-time All-State selection. Romancik was a 4th team selection in Class C this past season, after earning 7th team honors as a junior. Romancik, a three-year varsity performer, was also a two-time 1st team All-Onondaga High School League Patriot American Division selection, and was named Division Most Valuable Player as a junior as he led the Lancers to the Section III Class C championship. He was also a two-time honorable mention All-Central New York selection. As a senior, he averaged 17.8 points per game. An all-around student-athlete, Romancik was also selected to receive the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board #38 scholarship, and has been a standout member of LaFayette’s state ranked lacrosse team.
Eric Ball, a 6’4” swingman from Bishop Grimes High School, was a 4-year varsity performer who scored 1,002 points in his high school career. Ball was named 9th team All-State in Class B, honorable mention All-Central New York, and was a two-time 1st team All-Onondaga High School League Liberty Division selection. He averaged 19.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as a senior in leading Bishop Grimes to the Section III Class B-1 championship.
Raffi Perry, a 6’1” shooting guard from Unadilla Valley Central, was a 7th Team All-State selection in Class C. Perry, a 3-year varsity performer, led Unadilla Valley by averaging 17.0 points per game. He was a 1st Team Midstate Athletic Conference Division I All-Conference selection and was also named to the Oneonta Daily Star All-Star Team and the Norwich Evening Sun All-Star Team. Perry is a multi-sport athlete who is the all-time leading scorer for Unadilla Valley’s soccer team and also competes on the golf team.
Dave Foltz, a 5’10” point guard from Auburn High School, led the Maroons to their first league championship ever when they captured the Central New York Counties League American Division title this past year. In his 3-year varsity career, Foltz was a 1st Team All-League selection once, a 2nd Team All-League pick twice, and team Most Valuable Player and leading scorer twice. In addition, he was a two-time selection to the Auburn Citizen All-Star Team and was named honorable mention All-Central New York once. He averaged 14.6 points and 6.0 assists for his career, and connected on 107 three-point goals.
Daniel Mabbet, a 6’6” forward from Gregory Jarvis High School in Mohawk, led his team to the Section III Class C-1 championship game this past season. Mabbett averaged 15.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocked shots per game for the Mohicans, and was named a Center State Conference Division I 1st Team All-Conference selection. Mabbett is also a member of Mohawk’s track and field team, and is the school record holder in the high jump.
Zach Chawgo, a 6’2” combo guard also from LaFayette, averaged 14.2 points per game and was named a 1st team All-Onondaga High School League Patriot American Division selection as a senior. As a junior, he helped lead the Lancers to the Section III Class C championship and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association quarter-finals. Chawgo is also a standout defenseman on LaFayette’s state ranked lacrosse team, and intends to pursue both basketball and lacrosse at Onondaga.
Nate Foote, a 5’9” combo guard from Norwich High School, averaged 10 points and 5 assists for the Tornado, as his team reached the Section IV Class A semi-finals. He was the team captain, was named honorable mention All Chenango County, and was a member of the Academic All-State Team. A multi-sport athlete, Foote was also the starting quarterback and captain of the Norwich football team and earned Southern Tier Athletic Conference All-League honors in that sport.
Justin Ballin, a 6’4” forward also from Norwich, averaged 4.1 points per game for the Tornado, and helped lead the Tornado to a 14-6 record and a berth in the Section IV Class A semi-finals. Ballin was also a member of the Norwich football team.
Josh Michlovitch, a 5’8” shooting guard from Liverpool High School, helped lead the Warriors to a 16-6 record and the Section III Class AA quarter-finals this season. He averaged 2.9 points per game and established himself as one of the Warriors’ best perimeter defenders.
The Lazers expect to announce the names of additional prospective student-athletes in the near future.
