Onondaga Community College Men's Basketball to play three games in Florida this weekend

Lazers to test themselves against Division I opposition

Syracuse, NY - January 1, 2010 - The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team will return to the court this weekend, following a three week break for final exams and the holidays. The Division III Lazers are traveling to Florida to test themselves against two NJCAA Division I (full scholarship) programs and one of the nation's premiere post-graduate teams.

On Saturday, the Lazers will take on St. Petersburg College at 4:00 pm. St. Petersburg, 8-5 on the season to date, is a member of the Suncoast Conference and is annually one of the top ranked teams in the state. On Sunday, the Lazers will play at IMG Academy, one of the top post graduate basketball training programs in the nation. Finally, on Monday, Onondaga will play another Suncoast Conference team, the State College of Florida at Manatee-Sarasota, who is 9-2 on the season so far.

After returning from Florida, the Lazers will open Mid-State Athletic Conference play next Thursday, January 7, at Finger Lakes Community College. Onondaga's next home game will be a 3:00 pm Mid-State tip-off against Cayuga Community College on Saturday, January 9.
