SYRACUSE, NY. – February 20, 2013 – Onondaga Community College men’s basketball player Adam Misener (Liverpool) was named to the 2012-2013 Mid-State Athletic Conference All-Conference Team today. Misener, a 5’10” sophomore guard, is averaging 13.8 points per game on the season. He was Onondaga’s leading scorer in MSAC play, averaging 17.1 points per game to rank 5th in the conference in scoring. He led the conference with 46 made three-point goals in conference play, and his season total of 85 three-pointers currently ranks him 4th in the nation. Misener established a new Onondaga single game record with 10 made three-point goals in the Lazers’ February 16th game at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Lazer freshman forward Tyler Bliss (Liverpool), a high school teammate of Misener’s, received Honorable Mention in the MSAC All-Conference voting. Bliss averages 11.7 points and a team best 9.0 rebounds per game on the season. He is also Onondaga’s leading field goal percentage shooter, making 52.7% of his attempts. In conference play, he was 9th in scoring with 13.0 points per game, 4th in rebounding with 8.5 per game, and 2nd in field goal percentage, shooting 53.7% from the floor.
Onondaga is 15-13 on the season. The Lazers have qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 3 Division III Championship Tournament. Seeding for the regional tournament will be announced on Sunday afternoon. The tournament will begin with first round contests next Tuesday, February 26th. The regional quarter-finals, semi-finals, and championship game will be held at SUNY Delhi, March 1st through 3rd. The winner of the regional tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament March 14th through 16th at Sullivan County Community College.
