Several top high school basketball players to continue careers at Onondaga CC

List of incoming prospects again contains top local talent

SYRACUSE, NY. – June 12, 2006 – The Onondaga Community College men’s basketball program has released the names of several prospective players who have registered and will be enrolling this fall.

Zack Thomsen, a 6’2” point guard from Unadilla Valley Central, will study Math/Science. Thomsen was a 4th team All-State selection in leading his team to the Midstate Athletic Conference championship and the Section IV Class C championship game. He averaged 21.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.7 steals per game this past season. Thomsen was a two-time 1st team All-Conference selection and was the conference Most Valuable Player as a senior. He was named Player of the Year by the Oneonta Daily Star, was named to the All-Metro team by the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin. He was a two-time All-Chenango County selection and a two-time selection to the Stars & Stripes All-Star Classic.

Shane Williams, a 6’5” forward from West Genesee Central, will study business administration. Williams averaged 13.8 points, 80 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game. He was a 1st team Onondaga High School League All-League selection and an honorable mention All-Central New York selection. Williams was a member of the Empire State Games Central Region scholastic basketball team. He was also a two-time Zebra Classic selection, earning All-Tournament recognition as a senior.

Pat Crowley, a 6’4” forward from Union Springs Central, will study business administration. Crowley averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game and led his team to the Section IV Class C finals in his junior year and semifinals in his senior year. He is a two-time Interscholastic Athletic Conference 1st team All-League selection, and was named Division III Most Valuable Player in his junior year. He was also named to the Auburn Citizen All-Star 1st team in both his junior and senior seasons.

Kyle Burton, a 6’2” guard from Jordan-Elbridge Central, will study education. As a senior, Burton averaged 21.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game, after averaging 18.8 points as a junior. He is a two-time Onondaga High School League 1st team All-League selection, a two-time 1st team Auburn Citizen All-Star, and a two-time Zebra Classic selection. He was also a member of the Empire State Games Central Region scholastic basketball team.

Andreau McCallops, a 5’11” guard from Cazenovia Central, will study criminal justice. McCallops averaged 16.3 points per game and connected on 60 three-point goals. He is a two-time Onondaga High School League 1st team All-League selection and a two-time Zebra Classic selection.

Luke Schrader, a 6’2” guard from Herkimer Central, will study business administration. A three-year varsity performer, Schrader averaged 16.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 3.1 steals per game in leading his team to back to back Center State Conference Championships and back to back appearances in the Section III Class C championship game. He was a 1st team All-League selection and was named co-player of the year. He was a Zebra Classic selection and received the Coaches Appreciation Award and the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award.

Tim Scholz, a 6’2” guard from West Genesee Central, will study business administration. Scholz averaged 11.0 points per game and connected on 44 three-point goals. He was an honorable mention Onondaga High School League All-League selection.

Ben Johnson, a 6’3” forward from Sherburen-Earlville Central, will study humanities. Johnson averaged 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He was named honorable mention Center State Conference All-League and honorable mention All-Chenango County. An excellent all-around athlete, he was also a 4-year starter and most valuable player on his school’s soccer team.
