Onondaga Community College wins third in a row by defeating Clinton CC

Game time for next home game changed

SYRACUSE, NY. – December 3, 2006 – The Onondaga Community College men’s basketball team defeated Clinton Community College, 85-73, at home on Saturday afternoon. The win was Onondaga’s third straight and runs their season record to 5-3.

Onondaga started quickly against the visiting Cougars, opening up a 31-10 lead midway through the first half on the way to a 50-36 advantage at the break. Clinton was able to close the gap to 8 points on two occasions in the second half, but wasn’t able to get any closer. Steve Siechen (East Syracuse-Minoa) led the Lazers with 19 points. He was joined in double figures by Shane Williams (Camillus West Genesee) and Danny Smith (Canastota) with 13 and 11 points respectively. Williams and Smith both recorded scoring-rebounding double doubles, as Williams pulled down 14 rebounds and Smith grabbed 12. Zack Thomsen (New Berlin Unadilla Valley) led Onondaga with 6 assists. The Lazers owned a 65-47 rebounding advantage and limited Clinton to 36% shooting (26 of 73). Onondaga connected on 30 of 76 field goal attempts (39%).

Onondaga returns to action this Tuesday at Mohawk Valley Community College at 8:00 pm. The Lazers return home next Sunday, December 10, against North Country Community College. The starting time for that game has been moved up to 1:00 pm.
