Half Moon Bakery & Bistro
always talked about how she’d like to open a bakery in her hometown of
Jamesville. After retiring from education she decided to turn her hobby into a business. She felt that her business would fill a need in the Jamesville area, where customers could enjoy the bakery and bistro, while relaxing and reading the paper, without the long drive into Syracuse or surrounding suburbs.
She reached out to the Small Business Development Center at Onondaga Community College and worked with
an advisor who helped her write a business plan. The next step was finding a
location to open up shop, and last spring, Titus found herself in the right
place at the right time. Half Moon Bakery & Bistro officially
opened its doors in June 2014. Half Moon Bakery and Bistro incorporates organic vegetables into their Bistro menu and there are also gluten free, egg free and dairy free options upon request. Of course pastries and wedding cakes are always very popular. The
shop offers espresso drinks and freshly roasted coffee in addition to a variety
of baked goods including: mini-cupcakes, scones, pastries, brownies, cheesecakes
and of course, half moon cookies. The store is located at 6500 East Seneca
Turnpike in Jamesville and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and
Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. For more

Maria Rizzo Art
Maria Rizzo's recent paintings are a tribute to trees.
To create these "Totems of Life" she uses her memories of nature as a reference and intuition as her guide. The painting process is her journey to find beauty and balance among texture, color, and form.
It is also a political journey in which she uses her art to create an awareness of endangered trees, the beauty and frailty of nature and, consequently, the necessity of recycling. Maria Janina Rizzo’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout New York State and abroad, including the Red House Gallery in Syracuse, the Frederic Remington Museum in Ogdensburg, and the Museo d' Arte Contemporanea di Lissone in Italy. Maria Janina Rizzo was born in Bologna, Italy in 1987. She has been working as a professional artist since 2010.
Maria came to the SBDC seeking assistance with marketing. A marketing plan was developed and implemented and her business has been growing. firstname.lastname@example.org www.mariarizzoart.com @RizzoArt
