Joan has been with the SBDC since 1996. Prior to joining our staff, she worked in the private sector for eighteen years in the accounting department of a Fortune 1000 corporation. Joan received the SBA’s Syracuse District Women’s Business Champion Award for 2004 and the New York State Small Business Development Center 3rd Runner Up for Business Adviser of the Year in 2004. Joan runs our Center’s outreach center in Cortland and previously served as Assistant Director. She received her B.A. and M.S. degree in accounting from Syracuse University. email@example.com
Nancy's career has spanned corporate, non-profit and self-employment areas of business. Her focus has been on training and counseling. She continues to assist others in the realization of successful business ownership.
Her community activities include the advisory committee of WHOLE ME, Inc., which services the deaf and hard-of-hearing community and she is also a Junior Achievement volunteer.

David’s business background is extremely diverse and
includes nearly 20 years of experience in business development, sales
management, and entrepreneurship. He has
held positions ranging from District Manager at Yamaha Motor Corporation to
National Sales Manager at Cathedral Corporation. Additionally, David has owned and operated
several small businesses of his own including Valetpalooza, Inc. in Palm Beach,
Florida and Golf 2 Go, Inc. in Syracuse, NY. David has earned a bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration/Management from Le Moyne College, a master’s degree in Business
Administration (MBA) from SUNY Oswego, and a master’s degree in
Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises with a Certificate of Advanced
Studies in Sustainable Enterprise from the Whitman School of Management at
Syracuse University. David serves as a Business Advisor for the

Frank has 15 years working with sustainable systems,
non-profit business management, and cooperative business entities. Frank
provides business counseling, training and assists businesses with obtaining
Green certification for their operations through third-party
organizations. His office is co-located with the Northside Urban
Partnership. Frank founded the NYS Cooperative Business Summit in 2012,
is a member of the Near West Side Initiative's Business Association, Bitternut
Housing Collective, the Syracuse Real Food Co-op,
the Eat-To-Live food co-op, and a Board
Member of Cooperative Federal Credit Union. Frank is also the Board
President of The Alchemical Nursery, a non-profit dedicated to
"Regenerative Lifestyles & Landscapes”
and a founding Steering Committee member of Syracuse Grows. Frank holds an M.S. in Sustainable Systems Science from Slippery Rock
University of Pennsylvania; an M.F. in Forestry from SUNY College of
Environmental Science and Forestry; and a Permaculture Design Certificate from

Tania owned an insurance company specializing in farm insurance and also a home based business which provided translation services and other specialized computer assistance. Her work experience has included contract audit work for the Department of Defense. She served as Financial Director for Syracuse University in London, where she implemented an accounting program that is currently being used in all the University’s study-abroad programs. Tania teaches an online Introduction to Business Start Up class at Onondaga Community College and frequently presents to high school and college students who are interested in entrepreneurship.

Melissa has recently joined the staff at the Small Business
Development Center at OCC as a business advisor. Since graduating she has
spent time in the field of Special Education but followed her passion to be a
small business owner in the equine industry. She sold the licensing
rights to one of her businesses and is currently an insurance agent
specializing in equine insurance products. During her time as a small
business owner she has gained a great deal of experience in every aspect of the
day to day operations, sales, and marketing of owning a company. Melissa will provide
office hours in Cazenovia offering her counseling services for start-up and
existing small businesses through a wide range of networks in Western Madison
County. Her community involvement includes being on the Board of the
Friends of Lorenzo and being an advisor for local IEA Equestrian teams. Melissa earned a B.S. in Social Science from Cazenovia
College as well as a M.S.T. in Teaching from LeMoyne College with a
