Training in phlebotomy prepares you for a career in drawing blood, or provides health care professionals with an additional skill. There is an increasing demand for qualified phlebotomists in a variety of medical setting: hospitals, physicians' offices, and laboratories. This one-part course, approved by the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists Route 3), provides the knowledge necessary to earn national certification in the field after you have completed one year of work as a phlebotomist (not provided with this course).
This course is designed for individuals already working in the health care field who can complete 100 blood draws on the job. Students complete 44 hours of classroom instruction. No clinical experience is included with this course. Only two missed classes are permitted.
