Just for You
College Credit Now allows high school students to take OCC courses for college credit at your high school during the course of your regular school day. The courses are taught by college credentialed high school instructors from your high school.
Most College Credit Now students are between grades 11 and 12. Because College Credit Now classes are actual OCC courses that will be the starting point of your college academic record, students must meet all of the qualifying prerequisite requirements as students taking the courses on our college campus. This may include prior coursework, placement testing, SAT/ACT scores, etc.
Aside from meeting the required prerequisites, a good candidate for College Credit Now is a self-motivated, hardworking, committed student that is looking for an academic challenge, and to jumpstart or become familiar with college level classes.
There is no cost to the student or parent to take College Credit Now courses for those who reside within Onondaga County. Students who reside outside of Onondaga Community College will also be allowed to take the courses at no additional charge, as long as you provide a completed Certificate of Residence within the first 30 days from the start of the OCC classes.
See your teacher or school counselor for instructions on how to register online. Be sure to note the deadlines for registrations. They are important!
If you choose to attend OCC, then you are guaranteed 100% of all CCN courses you take in high school will get you closer to an OCC degree and will get applied towards your total credits needed to graduate from Onondaga.
In most cases, with little exception, if you are successful in your OCC courses from CCN, (with a grade of a C or higher), you can be transferred another college or university of your choice, giving you a head start on your degree and saving you and your family money.
You will need to contact the Admissions or Recruitment office of your college(s) of interest to find out more information.
