Scholarship 1

"By granting scholarships to students such as me, you provide us with a starting point which we in turn utilize to the best of our abilities to excel and become self-sufficient. I am truly grateful for the assistance you have given me. Thank you!"

Natalia M.

Scholarship 2

"The financial support I received was so important. Without it, I would have had to pay out of pocket for summer classes and would not have been able to afford books in the fall. I really appreciate it.

Eduardo P.

Scholarship 3

"True happiness doesn’t cost a penny. Earning a college degree will make my parents ten times happier than me making a million dollars. They invested so much in their kids so they would have a better life. I don’t know how they did it but I owe everything to them."

Alena C.

Scholarship 4

"I want to personally shake the hand of the person responsible for creating this scholarship. I'm so grateful to the OCC Foundation for all of its help."

Student Engagement & Philanthropy Month

Teaching Students about the Power of Collective Philanthropy

SEPM Logo National Philanthropy Day 2016 (310px)

Our goal, during Student Engagement & Philanthropy Month, is to teach students the power of collective philanthropy. Students can earn ‘Lazer Tokens’ throughout Philanthropy Month by participating in college events and activities, accessing the services of the Learning Center, meeting with their advisors, or by visiting Career Services. Each ‘Lazer Token’ represents one employee dollar contributed on National Philanthropy Day. The Student Association and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will each choose a priority project for students to direct their Lazer Tokens. Based on those priority projects, all students will be given the opportunity to choose where to direct their philanthropic dollars, and those participating will be eligible for special grant awards.

‘We thought about how much more could be done to inspire students to learn the value of philanthropy – not only as recipients of, but also from the satisfaction of being able to give themselves,’ said Lisa Moore, Vice President, OCC Foundation. ‘We realize Student Engagement & Philanthropy Month is the perfect time to build up an OCC core of future philanthropists.’

Watch for announcements of February 2017’s Student Engagement & Philanthropy Month.
