OCC Advantage, a new college readiness pilot program between Onondaga Community College and local school districts where high school freshmen can:

  • Build the skills they need to succeed in college
  • Serve their community
  • Make friends with similar goals
  • Earn a full-tuition scholarship to OCC

Students who successfully complete the OCC Advantage program while in high school will be offered a full-tuition scholarship to Onondaga Community College. The scholarship will last for two years of full-time enrollment, allowing students to complete an associate degree or certificate program preparing them for a career or transfer to a four-year institution.

Here's what you need to do to be eligible...

While you're in high school

  1. Make sure your school is participating
    • East Syracuse Minoa School District*
    • Solvay Union Free School District*
    • Onondaga Central School District*
    • LaFayette Central School District*
    • Jordan-Elbridge Central School District*
  2. Sign up for OCC Advantage as a high school freshman through your school.
  3. Stay in school and maintain required average and attendance minimums.
  4. Complete the required community service.
  5. Complete any required summer programming. 
  6. Complete the FAFSA , Apply for TAP , and Apply to OCC by March 1st of your senior year. 

 Once you enroll at OCC

  1. Participate in the Welcome Onondaga orientation program. 
  2. Stay in school!  Complete 15 credits every semester for two years. 
  3. Maintain OCC Advantage GPA standards:
    • 1st Semester - 2.2
    • 2nd Semester - 2.3
    • 3rd Semester - 2.5
    • 4th Semester - 2.5
  4. Complete the FAFSA every year by March 1st. 
  5. Participate in at least one service-learning course or college service activity.
