Onondaga Signs Rio+20 Sustainability Declaration
Onondaga Community College is one of eight colleges in the SUNY System to sign the Rio+20 Sustainability Declaration presented at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in June.
The Rio+20 conference involved more than 40,000 participants from governments, the private sector, higher education, NGOs and other groups, focused on poverty reduction, social equity, and environmental protection. Presidents to sign the declaration have committed to the teaching of sustainable development concepts, encouragement of research on sustainable development issues, greening of campuses, support of community sustainability efforts, and engagement with and sharing of results through international frameworks.
Also signing the declaration from SUNY are System Administration, SUNY Delhi, Empire State College, Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Oneonta, and the University at Buffalo.
