On April 27 2010, Congressman Dan Maffei presented two resolutions on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize Onondaga Community College’s 2009 Men’s and Women’s National Championship Lacrosse teams. Both resolutions passed and video can be seen on C-SPAN:
“It was a privilege and an honor to bring these Resolutions to the House floor and have them pass with unanimous consent,” said Congressman Dan Maffei. “OCC does so many things well, but having two national championship teams is truly an exceptional achievement. Congratulations to the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, and the entire OCC community, on this accomplishment.” "Onondaga Community College is grateful to Congressman Dan Maffei for his extraordinary support, and we are deeply honored by the passage of these two Congressional Resolutions recognizing outstanding student athletes and memorializing in the Congressional Record a truly historic year for Onondaga's 2009 Men’s and Women’s National Championship Lacrosse Teams," said Onondaga Community College President Debbie L. Sydow, Ph.D. In May 2009, the men’s team completed an undefeated season by winning its third national title in four years, beating Nassau Community College 9 to 8. Onondaga also won its fifth consecutive Region III Championship and its ninth Mid-State Athletic Conference title. This win marked the third National Championship in four years. The women’s team captured the national title in its inaugural season, defeating Monroe Community College 9 to 7. In beating Monroe, Onondaga avenged its only loss of the season in the Region III finals a week earlier. Both teams are strong this year and both are 2010 Mid-State Athletic Conference and Region III Champions.
