Plans for an addition to Ferrante Hall and renovations to the Gordon Student Center were presented to the County Legislature on July 15th and 16th. The County Legislature previously authorized the capital project in September 2009. The addition will provide space for student enrollment that has grown by 65% over the past decade. The addition is designed to house eight new "smart" classrooms and the College’s renowned music program. The music program’s current space in the Gordon Student Center will be renovated to house the College’s advisement and counseling services. The proposed plan involves an addition dubbed "Academic II" that will connect both buildings by spanning the natural gorge that runs through campus. The suspended addition design minimizes site development costs and utilizes previously unusable property. The design will also enhance the building’s sustainable features and positively impact the campus environment.
