Allen J. Naples Joins Board of Trustees

Allen J. NaplesAllen J. Naples, Senior Vice President and Regional President of the Central New York region for M&T Bank, was sworn in today by Board Chair Margaret M. O’Connell as a member of the Onondaga Community College Board of Trustees. Naples was appointed by Onondaga County Executive Joanne Mahoney and confirmed by the Onondaga County Legislature. Naples is a resident of Fayetteville.

“It’s my great pleasure to welcome Allen to the College’s Board of Trustees,” said Onondaga Community College Board of Trustees Chair O’Connell. “His extraordinary commitment to this institution has been unwavering. We are indeed fortunate to have his leadership and expertise in his role as Trustee.”

Naples joined M&T after serving for six years as regional president and executive vice president for HSBC USA. In that role, he was responsible for the bank’s Syracuse and Central / Capital Region operations from 2000 – 2004, and the West Coast Region from 2004 – 2005.

He served as a member of the OCC Foundation Board of Trustees from 1999-2010, as Treasurer from 2003-2007 and as chair from 2007 to 2010. He is currently co-chair of the College’s Capital Campaign, Reach Beyond, which launched in 2008. Under his leadership, the initial goal of $6 million was reached and a “Campaign Supergoal” of $7.5 million was announced in early 2010.

“Allen has been an actively engaged advocate for Onondaga Community College for more than 20 years,” said Onondaga Community College President Debbie L. Sydow, Ph.D. “As a respected community and business leader who has firsthand knowledge of the College and its mission, Allen will bring tremendous value to the College’s Board of Trustees.”

Mr. Naples is active in the community, and serves on the boards of a number of organizations including CenterState CEO, New York State Business Development Corp., and SRC. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Personnel and Industrial Relations from Syracuse University and has received training from the West Point Management School of Career Development, the University at Buffalo in Advanced Leadership Development, the Graduate School of Retail Bank Management at the University of Virginia and the Hong Kong Shanghai Corporate Center training in Advanced Management Skills.
