Today Onondaga Community College formally extended its congratulations to James Sunser, Ed.D., who was earlier today named the new president of Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York. Dr. Sunser has served at Onondaga Community College for 23 years, most recently as Vice President for Continuing and Extended Learning. He is also an alumnus of Onondaga Community College. “Dr. Sunser has served Onondaga Community College with distinction for more than two decades. Throughout his career at Onondaga, Jim has applied his formidable intellect, expertise and leadership skills to advance many institutional priorities. This is an extraordinary opportunity for him, and we wish him well in this exciting new endeavor,” said Onondaga Community College President Debbie L. Sydow, Ph.D. “It is a great honor to be selected by the Board of Trustees at Genesee Community College to serve as its next president. My professional career has been dedicated to Onondaga, and it is an exceptional opportunity to continue to serve the community college sector of higher education at Genesee Community College. I am grateful to Dr. Debbie Sydow for her tremendous advocacy and support for me and my career development, and to my alma mater, Onondaga Community College, and the entire OCC family for their support over many years,” said James Sunser, Ed.D. Dr. Sunser will be relocating to Batavia with his wife, Roseann. He begins his new position in July. No decision has been made regarding a replacement for the Vice President for Continuing and Extended Learning position. As is the College’s practice, a complete analysis will be conducted that will guide the decision-making process.
