Onondaga Breaks Ground on New Academic II Building
Onondaga Community College broke ground on its new Academic II building today, a project that will that will provide additional space for student enrollment that has grown by 65% over the last decade. The new building will connect Ferrante Hall and the Gordon Student Center, spanning over the hallmark natural gorge that runs through campus and only touching two points on the ground.
The addition is designed to house eight new "smart" classrooms and the College’s renowned music program. The music program’s current space in the Gordon Student Center will be renovated to house student services. Additionally, the "suspended in air" building design minimizes site development costs and utilizes previously unusable property. The design will also enhance the building’s sustainable features and positively impact the campus environment.
Academic II is slated for completion in Fall 2013.
