8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course for Security Guards
This course is a requirement for all individuals seeking employment as Security Guards in NYS. Upon successful completion of this course a training certificate is issued. The certificate must accompany the Security Guard Registration Application submitted to the Department of State Division of Licensing Services.

16 Hour On-The-Job Training Course for Security Guards
Upon submitting the Security Guard Registration Application, the guard has 90 days to complete the OJT Course. This training program is relevant to the guard’s duties and the requirements and needs of their employer.
