Online Course Self Assessment

Will an online course be right for you? Answer the following questions to get a better idea of the challenges that you'll face as an online student. When you submit your answers, you will see a response that gives you an idea of whether online learning might be a good match for you as a student.

Check the box for each statement that is true.

I have or am willing to attain ready access to a computer and, through it, the Internet from home.
The words "software download and setup" don't normally send me into a total panic.
I am proficient at reading and writing the English language.
I enjoy working independently, and typically do not have a problem completing assignments on time.
I am NOT considering an online course because I think the work will be easier than in a "real" class.
I like the exchange of ideas and the sometimes lively give and take of a typical classroom experience.
I plan to commit 10-12 hours per week (anytime during the day or night) for each course that I take.
Sometimes I find that when I write, I can take the time to organize my thoughts better than when I talk.
My lifestyle (family, work or personal schedule) makes it difficult for me to attend courses during the day.
I don't mind it if I never actually meet my instructor or classmates in person.
I believe that high quality learning can take place without face-to-face interaction.
New technologies requiring new approaches to learning and problem solving bother me.
I have no problem with sharing my work, life, and educational experiences as part of the learning process.
I can usually read and understand a textbook without help.
I plan to visit the online classroom regularly, and like the idea of participating in classroom discussions.
