Learning Center Policies

Before visiting The Learning Center, review our policies:
  • Students are allowed a maximum of two (2) scheduled appointments per week, per course.  A week is counted from Monday to Sunday.

  • Students who have an Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR) accommodation form on file will be allowed extra weekly appointments once they have attended their two (2) appointments for that week for that course.

  • A student may schedule a maximum of one (1) appointment per day per course.

  • Tutors are not permitted to schedule any appointments for a student.

  • Any walk-ins are to be scheduled by front desk staff at the start of an appointment.  Students are only allowed one (1) walk-in appointment per day.

  • Back-to-back appointments are prohibited, including walk-ins. This policy applies even if the tutor is free during the next slot.

  • Staff are not permitted to assign students to tutors for classes which are not listed on their profile by the Learning Center Director, nor are tutors permitted to volunteer to tutor a course which the director has not previously approved.

  • Tutors must wait ten (10) minutes before declaring the student as missed.  Front desk staff may assign the tutor a walk-in student at this time.

  • Missed appointments count toward the allotted two (2) scheduled weekly appointments.  Missed is to be considered ten (10) minutes late from the start of the appointment.

  • Students must attend class on a regular basis and attempt work prior to the session. If this is not demonstrated, tutors may end the session, mark the appointment as "missed" and denote any important information on the client report form.

  • Tutors WILL NOT help students with exams, tests, or quizzes of any kind.

  • Tutoring appointments are 45-minutes in length.  Tutoring appointments must end at the designated time regardless if the student was late, behind in the course, or has extra questions.

  • Textbooks with either a yellow, bright green, orange, and/or pink sticker are for tutor use only.
  • All calculators are for tutor use only.
  • Models & other resources are for tutor use only. Tutors may not sign them out for students.
