What You'll Learn

This program consists of lectures, hand-on skills training and a field placement internship. You will have at least 10 live patient contacts prior to course completion. In the classroom, clinical lab, and field placement settings, you'll:
  • Operate within the roles of an entry level provider of care and contributor to the EMT profession.
  • Demonstrate and foster high standards of Prehospital and Emergency Medical practice in skill performance and patient advocacy.
  • Provide care in a variety of settings to patients with diverse needs using decision making and judgment based on critical thinking, clinical competence, accountability and collaboration with the patient and the health care team.
  • Use effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients and other health care workers.
This program prepares you to sit the state EMT certification exam. That fee is included in program cost!

You should know this is an initial certification course and can't be used as a renewed certification.

Where You'll Go

Students who successfully complete the course and psychomotor exam are eligible to become national registered EMTs and work with a local ambulance corps. Plus, you'll be able to easily continue your education and go for our 2-year paramedic program and beyond!
