Medical Assistants play an essential role in medical offices assisting physicians and other health professionals with patient care and office management. They are the first person patients see when they walk in the door and responsible for creating a positive experience for patients. 

Information Sessions will be offered on 4/19, 5/24, 6/28, 7/19, 8/16, 8/30, 9/6 & 9/13 at 4:30 pm. All sessions will be held in the Whitney building room W319.

To be accepted into the Medical Assistant program, you must attend one mandatory Information Session at OCC to register your spot in the class.

The program includes:

  • Office Skills (Updating medical records, filling out insurances forms, etc.)
  • Medical terminology
  • Specimen Collection 
  • Electrocardiogram Training
  • Phlebotomy
  • CPR certification
  • Laboratory Testing

Upon completion of program students will be eligible to sit for the National Health Career Association - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant National exam at OCC. 

Requirements 

Students in Onondaga Community College's health programs must be vaccinated against COVID for enrollment in each program's required clinical rotations.
