Testimonial: A letter from a CLC Mom

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a parent of two children who benefited from the SUNY grant My family only had one working parent while I was busy trying to pursue a degree. As an adult learner it's already difficult trying to get back into school and to somehow provide for a family at the same time. I was fortunate enough to come across Children's Learning Center located on the campus of Onondaga Community College, for my son to attend. Through the SUNY grant I was able to pursue a higher education and afford full time daycare on a low budget.

I was a special case because my home school, Mohawk Valley Community College, was more than hour drive but I lived closer to Onondaga Community College and was attending classes at both SUNY campuses. The location of my home college didn't have any daycare so I turned to the Children's Learning Center to see if they could work with me. I spent my first year driving to and from a classes and studying, as I was simultaneously attending 2 SUNY junior colleges that was a little over an hour apart just to fulfill my prerequisite course needed, within a one year timeframe, to apply to Upstate Medical University. Once I was accepted to Upstate Medical University, I began to look for other daycares to send my son to on a limited budget Michele provided me with the best solution to my dilemma; her answer was to keep him at center, because the college I was transferring to is also a SUNY college as well. I was ecstatic knowing my son could stay. I am very thankful to have Children's Learning Center as a major support in my child's development. Nothing can compare to the kind of understanding and treatment both my child and I received at the daycare, the entire staff works with you and lifts the stress of leaving your child. Once I drop my child off there, I am able to go on with the rest of my day with one less thing to worry about because I know he is well taken care of and is in great hands. A lot of what I was able to achieve, I couldn't have done without the SUNY grant or Children's Learning Center. Thanks to the SUNY grant and the people working at the OCC Children's Learning Center, I was able to maintain on the Dean's list throughout my time in Upstate with a 3.7 GPA, complete two modalities in Radiology (X-ray and MRI) and obtain a bachelor's degree.

Sincerely from a grateful SUNY grant recipient,
