JOBSplus! partners with Onondaga County Department of Social Services, and offers coursework and counseling to help jobseekers get jobs and keep them. From skill-building workshops to resume preparation and other workplace specific activities, this program is among the premiere programs of its kind anywhere in the country.

Public assistance recipients begin their participation in the program with an orientation and assessment. Opportunities for entry-level students include basic and high school equivalency education, computer skills, English as a Second Language, and basic skills for employment, offered either on-site or with partner agencies. Other options, such as vocational courses with strong employment connections offered on campus, include workforce training in food production and warehousing, as well as other certificate programs designed to lead to employment while at the same time offering a career stepping-stone to degree programs at the college. Students enrolling in workforce preparation or college-level courses are assigned a job coach who serves as a liaison to other college departments to enhance the student’s academic success. All students receive assistance with defining career goals and mapping their journey to a successful employment outcome.

Students who receive public assistance may qualify for supportive services such as child care or transportation. For more information, call (315) 442-3242 or visit the JOBSplus! website at www.jobsplus.cc.
