Everyone attending college should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The federal government provides over $150 billion in Pell Grants, Federal Work-Study and student loans each year to help students pay for their education. Completing the FAFSA is free and easy and allows your eligibility for these funds to be assessed. The Financial Aid office is here to help.

Before you begin the FAFSA, ask yourself if the following statements are true.
  • I am a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen with a valid Social Security Number (SSN).
  • I am or will be a matriculated student at OCC.
  • I am making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) towards my degree/certificate
  • I am not in default on any of my previous student loans.

Yes, all of these statements are true.

Great! You are ready to begin applying for federal financial aid! Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Gather your social security number, Federal tax returns and/or W-2s from the prior-prior year. You will need to reference these documents.

  2. Create a FSA ID for the student and parent.

  3. Complete the FAFSA  OCC's FAFSA code is 002875

  4. Don't stop now! Scroll down to see if you qualify for NYS Aid. If you do, link to the TAP application as soon as you submit the FAFSA.
