Online Veterinary Science Technology Program

SUNY Delhi’s new Veterinary Science Technology (AAS) online program allows you to study and become a Licensed Veterinary Technician fully remotely. Featuring all the same courses as Delhi’s nationally renowned on-campus program, the online format is perfect for those currently working in a veterinary practice or place-bound. You’ll learn the anatomy and physiology of animals, train to assist with veterinary dental and surgical procedures, and gain the skills to administer general anesthesia, medical care, and vaccines.

Veterinary Science Technology Requirements:

  • Students with field experience will be given special consideration towards admissions requirements.
  • 85 + GPA
  • NY State Students must have a Regents Diploma
  • Transfer Students must have a 3.0 GPA
  • 4 Years English
  • 3 Years Math (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra Trigonometry or Algebra II, or a college level Math)
  • 3 Years Science (Biology/living environment required, Chemistry strongly recommended)
  • Suggested (BOCES, Volunteer, work in the field)

FAQ

Students interested in studying to become a Veterinary Technician can apply and enroll through SUNY Delhi but take certain courses in-person or online at Onondaga Community College through cross registration.

Vet Techs are similar to human nurses but for animals. Vet Techs work with Veterinarians in many clinical settings providing health care for a range of animal species. To become a Licensed Vet Tech, you must graduate from an AVMA accredited program in Veterinary Technology (Delhi’s programs are fully AVMA accredited) and pass a National Board Exam (the VTNE).

No, this partnership lets you take some courses at OCC and the rest of the courses will be delivered asynchronously online through SUNY Delhi.

Yes! You will have 3 clinical preceptorships at a Veterinary facility that you choose where you will work with a site mentor to practice and learn all the required hands-on skills necessary to become a Vet Tech.

If you do not currently meet admissions requirements, you can take the following courses (all are required courses in the program) and if you get a “C” or better and have a GPA >3.0 you will then be able to transfer into the Delhi Online Vet Tech Program:
