The Biden Administration wants to bring more manufacturing back into the United States in an effort to create employment opportunities here at home with outstanding salaries, and make the nation less vulnerable to global events which cause unexpected shocks, such as Covid. With that overarching goal in mind, Monday the White House hosted the America Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Working Session of the National Economic Council and Domestic Policy. And one of the invited speakers was Onondaga Community College Provost and Senior Vice President Anastasia Urtz.

Unfortunate life milestones have inspired Courtney Everson to pursue a career helping others. When her mother was struggling with lung cancer, she would watch her go through the medical imaging process. When her son broke his arm, she observed as he received x-rays.

A dozen students from Onondaga Community College took advantage of an amazing learning opportunity this summer. They were paid to do scientific research at some of New York State's top colleges and universities. The students are all members of either the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) or the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP).

Onondaga Community College and Syracuse University signed a Direct Transfer Admission Program Agreement which will give successful OCC students a guaranteed path into STEM-related programs at SU which may lead to employment at Micron or other high-tech companies.
