The Department of Biology offers courses and scholarships in support of other departments' degree programs at the college.  Even though the college does not have a degree in Biology, many students take our courses intending to major in this area in the future.

The Biology Department offers classes for students:

  • planning to transfer to a four-year degree program in Biology or related sciences
  • enrolled in (or seeking to enter) health-related professions such as nursing, surgical technology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy assistant, dental hygiene, physician assistant, medical imaging, or medical technology
  • pursuing studies in other majors who seek elective science courses.

Students interested in pursuing a four-year degree in Biology or a related science should consider majoring in Liberal Arts & Sciences at Onondaga.  Those interested in a health-related profession should consider the  NursingPhysical Therapist Assistant, and  Surgical Technology programs.
