The Department of Criminal Justice and Public Safety & Training Center offers two degree programs:
The purpose of the Criminal Justice program at Onondaga Community College is to educate students to be critical thinkers who can communicate their thoughts effectively in oral and written form, as well as to provide them with a comprehensive knowledge of the criminal justice field. The program strives not only to familiarize students with facts and concepts, but also more importantly, teach students to use ethical behavior in applying this knowledge to related problems and changing fact situations.
The Criminal Justice A.S. degree prepares the student for transfer to upper-division colleges and universities for advanced studies in criminal justice, criminology, criminalistics, pre-law, homeland security and sociology. Preparation for careers as practitioners and managers in local, state and federal agencies working in the fields of law enforcement, homeland security, corrections, criminal law, private security and as criminal justicians and criminologists in the field of higher education.
