Amanda Dunlap has been a vocal music teacher for twenty years, instructing students of all levels from preschoolers through adults. Amanda received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education for Voice and Flute from Ithaca College in 2003, and her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from New York University in 2005.
Amanda previously served as an adjunct voice professor at both New York University and SUNY Cortland, and she has taught vocal music in public and private schools for sixteen years, primarily in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District where she is still employed. She produces and directs several musicals annually for middle schoolers, high schoolers, and community theater groups. Amanda has served as a guest conductor and adjudicator for several Area All-State, All-County, and All-City/District festivals throughout New York State. The ensembles she has conducted have been highly awarded at music competitions and festivals. She was a recipient of the Madge Cathgart Gerke Music Education Award.
Amanda maintains a home voice studio in Syracuse, where she lives with her husband and four children. In her spare time, Amanda narrates audiobooks and also teaches musical theatre dance classes at Allure Dance Studio in Cazenovia. Amanda is an active performer in the Syracuse, Utica and Rome areas. Some of her past favorite roles include Mother Superior (Sister Act), Rosalie Mullins (School of Rock), Claire (Ordinary Days), Donna (Mamma Mia!), Norma Cassidy (Victor/Victoria), Marian Paroo (The Music Man), Maria Rainer (The Sound of Music), Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls), and Kathy Seldon (Singin in the Rain).
