This Syracuse Onondaga NAACP Marjorie Carter Scholarship Initiative is designed for high school seniors who are preparing to pursue an undergraduate degree full time at a U.S. accredited college or university.

The scholarship is a renewable scholarship. Applicants can apply for renewed eligibility for 4 years, for a maximum amount $4,000.00 ($1,000.00 each year). One male and one female student will be selected each year.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
  • Students must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents of African/ Hispanic descent
  • Currently planning to enroll in the upcoming academic year as a full-time undergraduate student.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Be a member of the Syracuse Onondaga NAACP.
  • Exhibit leadership ability.
  • Participate in community service activities.
  • Provide an official high school transcript.
  • Provide a senior photo (or professional attire photo).
  • Upload two letters of recommendation from a community leader,
    teacher, church leader, guidance counselor, or youth counsel
    advisor.
  • Have the ability to apply for the scholarship online.
  • Submit a personal statement consisting of 500-750 words on the
    provided topic.
  • Participate in a 15 minute interview.
