Onondaga Community College honored outstanding students in each of its degree and certificate programs during the 2022 Curriculum Honors ceremony, The event was held May 4 in Storer Auditorium.

The following students were recognized for excelling in the School of Liberal Arts:

American Sign Language - Mindy Reed

  • Mindy took her first ASL class at OCC 9 years ago as a Criminal Justice major. She returned to OCC in the fall of 2021 in the ASL program and completed her degree this semester. She will be transferring to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf and working toward a career as an ASL-English interpreter.

  • Elle was always engaging with her classmates, open minded, and thoughtful in her responses to subject matter and classroom discussions.

Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies - Angel Gonzalez

  • Angel is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Extraordinary Men of Distinction program, served as co-chair of the Unity Day committee, and is a member of the Lazers Track & Field team.

Liberal Arts & Sciences: Humanities & Social Sciences - Kiara Bush

  • Kiara overcame challenging life hurdles while a student here, completed her degree with outstanding grades, and will be transferring into a bachelor's degree program.
