Onondaga Community College honored outstanding students in each of its degree and certificate programs during the 2022 Curriculum Honors ceremony, The event was held May 4 in Storer Auditorium.

The following students were recognized for excelling in the School of Public Safety & Community Service:

Criminal Justice - Jacqueline Gayle

  • Jacqueline earned her Human Services degree, then enrolled in Criminal Justice after becoming the victim of domestic violence and believing her right to due process was violated. She's a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society who, while balancing the demands of school and life, worked at AccessCNY, and volunteered at PEACE, Inc. and Catholic Charities.

Human Services - Benito Barrera

  • Benito is a first generation Mexican American who interned with the Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement program while becoming one of the few members of his extended family to earn a college degree. His goal is to become a social worker with a focus on the elderly.
