Thursday, October 8 at 5:30pm, Onondaga Community College will honor a new class of Alumni Faces inductees during a ceremony in the Frederick Marvin and Ernst Schuh Recital Hall in the Academic II building. OCC's Alumni Faces program recognizes outstanding alumni who have made a difference. Their stories illustrate the transformative power of an OCC education, and the promise of self-discovery that the College commits to every student, every day. In the weeks leading up to this year's ceremony, we are highlighting one of our new Alumni Faces honorees every Wednesday.

DAVID JOHNSON JR. '08

  • High School: Mexico
  • OCC Degree: Nursing
  • Organ Donation & Transplant Leader

David Johnson Jr. has dedicated his career to helping others through nursing, emergency service, and organ transplantation. After working as a Licensed Practical Nurse and volunteering as a firefighter and EMT, he enrolled at OCC where he found the confidence, mentorship, and purpose that would shape his future. “Doing well at OCC helped me realize I had found something that truly interested me. It’s where I realized, ‘You can do this. You have the skills and the passion to see where this is going to take you.’” His career took him from SUNY Upstate Medical University to burn intensive care nursing at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to leadership with HonorBridge, where he manages organ utilization and helps connect life-saving donor organs with recipients. Through his work, David has helped give countless individuals and families the priceless gift of more time together. He credits his wife, Mianda, with being his biggest supporter. “My wife has been amazing. She’s been my support and encouragement the whole way.”
