Thursday, October 8 at 5:30pm, Onondaga Community College will honor a new class of Alumni Faces inductees during a ceremony in the Frederick Marvin and Ernst Schuh Recital Hall in the Academic II building. OCC's Alumni Faces program recognizes outstanding alumni who have made a difference. Their stories illustrate the transformative power of an OCC education, and the promise of self-discovery that the College commits to every student, every day. In the weeks leading up to this year's ceremony, we are highlighting one of our new Alumni Faces honorees every Wednesday.
Jack Conger '74

When Jack Conger arrived at OCC, he was an average student whose priority was playing sports. Courses in law, economics, and accounting awakened a love of learning that inspired him to make the Dean’s List three times. At the same time, he discovered a passion for golf that would become his life’s work. While he was proud of his academic accomplishments, Conger missed his OCC graduation because he was working at a golf course. He built a distinguished career as a Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) professional, instructor, business owner, and member of the Central New York PGA Hall of Fame. Yet his greatest accomplishment may be the thousands of golfers he has encouraged, coached, and inspired through decades of teaching as owner and managing director of the CNY Golf Academy. “OCC helped put me where I am now. I fell in love with studying and learning there.” His lifelong commitment to learning became a lifelong commitment to helping others learn.
