OCC students spent part of their Tuesday passing out pocket-sized copies of the United States constitution, patriotic stickers, information on the upcoming census, and encouraging fellow students to vote. The activities were in conjunction with Constitution Day efforts promoted system-wide by the State University of New York.

September 17 is the anniversary of the birth of our government. In 1787 delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the final time to sign and adopt the Constitution. Constitution Day has become an opportunity to engage students in the democratic process, and to think about voting and civic engagement.

Constitution Day was recognized on all 64 SUNY campuses. OCC would like to recognize the office of Congressman John Katko which donated the pocket-sized Constitutions.
