Students in Onondaga Community College's School of Technology, Engineering & Computing talked about their summer internship experiences during a panel discussion - held September 8 in the Gordon Student Center Great Room.
Professor Mike Grieb led the conversation. He asked a series of questions to 6 student panelists, then they answered questions from the audience of more than 100 people.
"Bring that desire to learn from your classes into your internship," said panelist Justin Kuneman. "The internship is designed for you. Take advantage of the opportunity. Ask questions and find out if it's something you want to do. That's the most important question you need to answer."
The participating panelists, in alphabetical order, were:
- Maksym Cherevatyi, Computer Science major who interned at Cloud 10 Messenger Communications in Syracuse.
- Joshua Dominguez, Construction Management major who interned with SUNY Facilities at SUNY Binghamton.
- Nick Hay, Electromechanical Technology major who interned at Micron Technology in Manassas, Virginia.
- Zachary Kaufman, Electromechanical Technology major who interned at Schneider Packaging in Brewerton.
- Aiden Knapp, Electrical Technology major who interned at Texas Instruments in Dallas.
- Justin Kuneman, Electromechanical Technology major who interned at Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho.
OCC is a leader in training students for workforce-related careers that are both essential and rewarding. The college is completing construction of the Micron Cleanroom Simulation Lab, along with new training centers for Welding, CNC Machining, and Diesel/Heavy Equipment Repair. OCC is also redesigning all of the spaces where future generations of healthcare professionals will be trained.
