C5: Senior Citizen Registration (Audit)

I. Policy Statement   

Persons 60 years of age or over are permitted to register for audit of Onondaga Community College courses without tuition, examination, grading or credit on a space available basis, according to the Academic Rule III. Registration, section D, as determined by the President, provided that such audit attendance does not deny course attendance by an individual who is otherwise qualified. Applicable course fees are payable at the time of registration, and the student will only be allowed to audit the same course one time for no tuition charge. 

II. Reason for Policy   

This policy is intended to enable the College to further advance its educational mission by making its educational resources available to senior citizens in the community at no additional cost.

OCC faculty and staff should be familiar with this policy.

V. Procedures   

  • Students who wish to audit a class at the time of initial registration must contact Student Central to declare audit status.  

  • Students who wish to declare audit status in a class after it has started must submit a “Change to Audit Status” form, which requires permission from the instructor of the class. The form must be submitted no later than four weeks prior to the last day of classes. The exact deadline, including deadlines for half semester classes, will be posted on the Academic Calendar.
